What does the user experience when interacting with campaigns that have been cancelled or deleted?
In BullPhish ID, there may be occasions when a phishing or training campaign may have to be cancelled or deleted. This article outlines what end users experience when interacting with a phishing or training campaign email after the campaign has been cancelled or deleted.
Phishing campaigns
When a phishing campaign is cancelled or deleted and a user interacts with the campaign email, the user experience is the same:
- User Action: The user clicks an attachment or phishing link in the phishing email.
- Result: The user is redirected to the default BullPhish ID Phishing and Training Awareness tool page.
This behavior ensures that users are still directed to a safe and informative page, even if the campaign is no longer active in the portal.
Training campaigns
The user experience differs depending on whether a training campaign is cancelled or deleted.
Cancelled training campaign
- User Action: The user clicks the training link in the email and logs into the training portal.
- Result: The course is marked as cancelled in the portal.
This provides a clear indication to the user that the training is no longer required.
Deleted training campaign
- User Action: The user clicks the training link in the email.
- Result: The user encounters a 404 Not Found error and is not redirected to the training portal login page.
NOTE The user cannot access the training portal via the training link because the course has been deleted. However, they can still log into the portal directly.
This outcome may cause confusion, so it's advisable for administrators to proactively communicate with users if a campaign is deleted after launch.
Refer to the articles Creating a training campaign and Creating a phishing campaign to learn how to edit, cancel, or delete a campaign.
